BDS Stands for Bachelor of Dental Surgery is an undergraduate medical course. Students interested in pursuing a career in Dental science can opt for this course. On completion of the 12th standard students can pursue this course after qualifying for the entrance exam that is NEET. The only approved dental program in India is BDS.
The duration of the BDS course is five years; four years are reserved for the theory classes and one year consists of a rotational internship. Internship is mandatory to get a license to practice.
Students must fulfill the mentioned eligibility criteria to be admitted to the BDS course:
Students must have completed their class 12 from a recognized board/Institution.
Minimum 50% marks are necessary for 12th boards in the science stream with Physics, chemistry, and biology as subjects.
Aggregate marks only for PCB subjects in 12 is for UR - 50%, OBC/SC/ST - 40%, PWD - 45%
Neet qualification is mandatory as admission will be based on Neet result
